s-ChoiceTM Smart Card Readers

All s-Choice™ smart card readers can operate either as master, slave or in a peer-to-peer configuration. Switching from currency-based payment to smart cards is easier than ever. s-Choice™ smart card readers are programmable to emulate devices like coin handlers, bill validators and more.

ISO 7816-1, 2, and 3 Compliance

As long as the smart card you are using is ISO 7816 compliant, our reader will be able to handle your card. This includes memory cards and magnetic stripe cards as well.

Data Security Features of the s-Choice™ Smart Card Readers

PKI capable, the s-Choice™ smart card readers connect easily to hardware security modules(HSM) via serial communication. Our smart card readers lower your project costs by integrating a programmable hardware layer to create an on-board HSM. Or, you can design an HSM that plugs into the readers expansion port. A premounted slot for a secure access module(SAM)for storing keys and encrypting data further enhance the PKI infrastructure capabilities of all s-Choice™ readers.

Smart Card Reader Hardware Security Features

Both the s-Choice™ 3200 and 4000 Smart Card Readers use solid steel mechanisms to deter tampering.

The s-Choice™ 3200 smart card reader uses a solid steel device to hold and lock the card while in the reader. A solid steel mechanism provides a more durable and reliable method of accepting and releasing the smart, memory or mag stripe card. On release, the solid steel mechnanism provides a swift kick that releases the card.

The s-Choice™ 4000 motorized smart card reader has a unique triple-locking steel door that detects the card before the steel door opens, and motor accepts the card. This feature enhances security and extends the life of the reader.

Landed Contacts

As the card is inserted, smart card contacts are gently lowered into place to read the smart card. This extends the life of both the smart card and card reader by eliminating a high-pressure high-friction contact method that may require more frequent card and reader replacement.

Magnetic Stripe Reader

All s-Choice™ smart card readers work with magnetic stripe cards either alone or in combination with any ISO compliant smart card and memory cards.

Customizable Smart Card Reader

All s-Choice™ smart card readers are modular in design. There are preconfigured options as well as the ability to customize the reader's expansion options. Standard options include, from 1-4 SAM slots, LCD interface, up to 2MB data storage and a real-time clock.
